EnerSys to Feature NexSys Batteries for Ground Support Equipment at 2016 International Airport GSE Expo

Oct. 17, 2016
Classified as non-spillable electric storage batteries, NexSys batteries are constructed with 99 percent pure lead and a very high purity sulfuric acid to minimize the potential risk of corrosion and sulfation common to conventional lead acid batteries.

READING, Pa., October 17, 2016 – EnerSys, the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, will feature NexSys® batteries in the Allen Energy® exhibit, booth no. 1130 at the 2016 International Airport GSE Expo. The show will take place Oct. 18-20 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ideal for use in baggage tractors, belt loaders and other ground support equipment applications, NexSys® batteries offer GSE operators a minimal-gassing, virtually maintenance-free power solution. The batteries never require watering, reducing associated labor demands and the risk of spills on the ramp from overwatering. Featuring Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, NexSys® batteries provide high energy throughput and up to 180 percent capacity per 24 hours.

“NexSys® batteries deliver longer life and full charging in less than half the time of conventional lead acid batteries,” said Chad Uplinger, general manager, specialty markets at EnerSys. “Ground support crews now have the flexibility for opportunity charging between flights, with no need for a long equalization cycle and no risk to the battery.”

With a robust design, NexSys® batteries are ideally suited for harsh environments and demanding ground support applications. The batteries provide extreme shock and vibration resistance and also operate with minimum gassing, making them suitable for use in public areas.

Classified as non-spillable electric storage batteries, NexSys® batteries are constructed with 99 percent pure lead and a very high purity sulfuric acid to minimize the potential risk of corrosion and sulfation common to conventional lead acid batteries. The TPPL design enables more plates to fit in the battery, providing more power in 30 percent less space than conventional lead acid batteries. With a shelf life of up to two years at 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius), NexSys® batteries provide unmatched performance across a wide range of temperatures, also making them ideal for cold storage applications.
