Palmer Johnson Helps Out Habitat For Humanity

June 26, 2013
More than 60 employees from the company and other local firms took part.

Palmer Johnson Power Systems partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County on May 31st to host Habitat’s first ever parking lot panel build at Palmer Johnson’s Madison, WI headquarters. The event brought out over 60 employees from Palmer Johnson, the Bank of Sun Prairie, and Complete Mobile Dentistry to build the walls for two of Habitat’s seven homes this year.

In just one morning, the volunteers built all of the interior and exterior walls for two homes that will be constructed this summer and fall in the Uplands neighborhood in Sun Prairie. Habitat for Humanity recently purchased seven lots in the neighborhood and will be building there in 2013 and 2014.

Once the walls were constructed and loaded onto semi-trucks for future delivery, volunteers were treated to an afternoon BBQ.

“Palmer Johnson Power Systems was excited to participate in the Habitat panel build last month.  Sun Prairie has been great to us and it’s great to give back to the community where we’re based, said Craig Parsons, president of Palmer Johnson. “The panel build was an excellent team-building opportunity for our employees.”

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County provides simple, decent, affordable housing for families who might not otherwise become homeowners. Eligible families pay monthly mortgage payments on a 0 percent interest loan, and contribute from 325 to 375 hours of sweat equity in the building of their homes.
