AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Airport says they need more help making sure travelers’ baggage gets where it’s going. This week Austin City Council could approve a nearly 11-million-dollar contract with a third party to help meet the need.
The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has seen a significant increase in travelers over the last two years but its hiring is lagging behind. According to an airport spokesperson, about 30% of AUS jobs are currently vacant. A big hiring need is in baggage handling where only six of 18 full-time technician positions are filled.
