Today marks 23 years since the terrorist tacks of Sept. 11, 2011, in which thousands lost their lives.
On that day, planes struck the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. However, passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93 overtook hijackers, sacrificed their lives and prevented that plane from reaching its intended target.
Among those heroes aboard Flight 93 was Andrew "Sonny" Garcia, our colleague in the ground support industry.
Garcia was owner and president of Cinco Group when he lost his life, and previously held other positions within the ground support industry as well as serving as an air traffic controller with the California Air National Guard.
As the National Park Service conducts its annual wreath-laying ceremony at the Flight 93 National Memorial site today, the team at AviationPros and Ground Support Worldwide wish Sonny's family comfort, and we respectfully remember all who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
