Singapore Airlines Signs Deal for Seven New Airbus Freighter Aircraft
Paris — European aircraft manufacturer Airbus said Wednesday it has found another buyer for its planned A350F wide-body cargo plane.
Singapore Airlines has signed a letter of intent to purchase seven of the new freighters, Airbus said.
According to the agreement, the A350F will replace the older Boeing 747-400F jumbo jets in the Singapore Airlines fleet from the fourth-quarter of 2025.
With the cargo version of the A350 passenger jet, Airbus is looking to compete with its rival Boeing in the global market for wide-body freighters, which the US company so far almost completely dominates.
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury had announced at the end of July that the A350F would enter service in 2025.
In November, the aircraft financier ALC signed a letter of intent for seven of the aircraft and the French shipping and logistics group CMA CGM a preliminary contract for four aircraft.
