Passengers on a Delta flight safely exited the plane Thursday afternoon at Hobby Airport after a fuel leak was reported in one of the aircraft's tanks, Houston Airport System spokesperson Bill Begley said.

The flight was en route to Hobby Airport around 5:20 p.m. when it reported issues with the fuel tank, Begley said.

The plane landed safely and parked before the passenger exited on a portable staircase, he said. They boarded buses and returned to the terminal while hazmat crews responded to the leak, he said.

Begley did not know the flight number or whether Houston was the final destination.
