Abilene and Lubbock Aero announced the attainment of Stage 2 Certification as defined by the International Standards of Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH).

IS-BAH is designed to promote use of industry best practices blended through a progressive safety management system (SMS) for fixed based operations (FBOs). It leads the FBO from establishment of beginning principles and a sustainable SMS program (Stage 1) to a performance-based, risk averse culture (Stage 2).

“Abilene and Lubbock Aero began the reinvention of our safety program in June of 2018. Step one in that process was obtaining Stage I Certification, which happened in August 2018. The continuous two-year effort by our employees and the dedication of company resources toward an evolving and refined safety program resulted in Stage 2 Certification in August of 2020. Safety principles are interwoven into our Company DNA and I look forward to pursing Stage 3 certification in August of 2022,” said Company President Joe Crawford.

Lubbock Aero has been a provider of FBO services at KLBB since 1990 and is owned by Abilene Aero which has been the FBO provider at Abilene Regional Airport for 52 years.

Abilene and Lubbock Aero are full-service aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities and are factory service centers for Textron and Cirrus Aircraft.
