Michael Hoppe, secretary general of the Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG), has demanded an urgent optimisation of processes on the ground, especially more efficient passenger security checks.

German airports have benefitted from strong growth in passenger numbers.

In October this year Frankfurt Airport saw 6.4 million passengers, an increase of 5.2 per cent compared to October 2017.
