Baggage Handlers Suspend Strike in Misrata

Baggage handlers agreed to suspend their strike until Dec. 15 pending an outcome to their demands, which includes back pay that workers say they did not receive.

A strike being staged by baggage handlers at the airport in Misrata, Libya, was suspended late last week and the airport was due to reopen.

According to a report by the Libya Herald, the baggage handlers agreed to suspend their strike until Dec. 15 pending an outcome to their demands, which includes back pay that workers say they did not receive.

Additionally, the report states that workers wish to be transferred from the Libyan Ground Service Company to Libyan Airlines or Afriqiyah Airways to become eligible for insurance and other benefits.
