(Des Moines, IA – January 13, 2012) – Seneca Companies, a full-service provider for General Contracting and Aviation Fueling projects, announced today that it has been awarded $6.5M contract with the Metropolitan Airports Commission.
In this project at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Seneca will provide the demolition of the existing Terminal 2-Humphrey Tank Farm and construction of a new fuel facility for Jet-A, MOGAS, and diesel, including performance of site utility work, grading, and concrete paving. The new fuel facility will include aboveground storage tanks, an oil/water separator, an aboveground dual MOGAS/Diesel Tank and site development for a glycol dispensing facility. The on-site team will be in constant communication with the tower and responsible for proper security clearance for on-site contractors.
“Our team is extremely excited about this recent award,” says Cory Hadwiger, Division Manager of Seneca Companies’ General Contracting and Aviation Fueling Division. “This is an interesting project since it will require a phased sequence with little down-time to the existing system in order to maintain functionality during installation of the new facility. We recently finalized an aviation fueling project at the Quad Cities International Airport where we faced a similar challenge and managed to perform with only a single hour of fueling downtime. We look forward to another successful fueling project, right in our own backyard.”
Through their experience with aviation fueling construction, Seneca has learned that an old facility may end up costing the owner more in maintenance and depreciation than a new, more viable facility, used at full capacity.
