All-in-One Transponder Enhances Situational Awareness and Safety.

OSHKOSH, Wis., July 23, 2018 – L3 Commercial Aviation announced today a new software upgrade that provides performance, start-up and compatibility enhancements for the ADS-B Transponder and Display System. The upgrade, named Release 3.2, will be available starting August 2018 for Lynx® NGT-9000 operators. Current Lynx operators can visit their installation centers for the upgrade, which is free of charge and will be standard software in all new systems.

“We continue to invest and broaden the reach of the Lynx NGT-9000 with these Release 3.2 enhancements, including the introduction of an interface with the Genesys IDU-680 EFIS, as well as other upgrades,” said Shane LaPlante, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ACSS, a business within L3 Commercial Aviation. “Lynx is a turnkey solution for general aviation aircraft and Part 27 rotorcraft, providing enhanced situational awareness, ATAS traffic alerting below 500 feet, safety and ADS-B compliance.”

The Lynx NGT-9000 Release 3.2 enhancements include:

  • Enhanced Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver performance and start-up time
  • Improved compatibility with the Genesys Aerosystems IDU-680 Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS)
  • Added support for dual control panel configuration

The Lynx NGT-9000 is an all-in-one touchscreen transponder that is also a display for traffic, terrain and weather. The unit displays graphical and textual weather, as well as moving maps depicting geopolitical boundaries. Up-to-the-minute Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs), and Winds and Temps Aloft data are also included. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ADS-B Out 2020 mandate requires all affected aircraft categories to be equipped with compliant transponders.
