NBAA Responds to Inaccurate Wall St Journal Editorial

Feb. 15, 2018
In attacking NBAA, the editorial recycles inaccurate airline talking points that have proven to be false, and obscures the fact that airlines themselves are responsible for most flight delays.

Today The Wall Street Journal published an inaccurate editorial that sides with the big airlines in their efforts to take over the nation's air traffic control (ATC) system at the expense of general aviation. The Journal specifically targets NBAA for our effective work in stopping airline-backed efforts to privatize ATC, but fails to mention the more than 200 general aviation groups, 100 pilot-business leaders, mayors from every state and the majority of American citizens who oppose the plan.

In attacking NBAA, the editorial recycles inaccurate airline talking points that have proven to be false, and obscures the fact that airlines themselves are responsible for most flight delays. Instead of engaging in a productive discussion on our ATC system, the airlines and their allies continue to spread false information and disparage general aviation. Review a Point-By-Point Rebuttal of the Editorial.

With the publication of this editorial, we must let our supporters on Capitol Hill know that business aviation continues to oppose HR 2997 or any other efforts to privatize ATC. Even if you have contacted Congress before, please take a few minutes and make contact again today. It is critical for Capitol Hill offices to hear from our community on multiple occasions so they understand the importance of this issue.
