Trainer Aircraft Crashes at Farm in Maharashtra’s Pune

Jul. 25—A trainer aircraft on Monday crashed in a farm in Pune district of Maharashtra. According to a statement by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the incident happened due to a suspected power loss.

Initial reports claimed that Bhavika Rathod, the 22-year-old trainee pilot onboard, was injured. However, the DGCA said that there were no injuries reported.

The incident happened in Kadbanwadi village of Indapur taluka in Pune district. A video showing the wreckage of the aircraft was shared by news agency ANI. Locals and rescue officials were seen at the site of the accident.

"A carver Aviation Cessna 152 aircraft VT-ALI, on Monday, on solo cross country flight made a crash landing while it was 15 Nm inbound to Baramati Airfield due to suspected power loss. No injury had been reported to the cadet pilot," the DGCA statement read.

DCGA authorities are present at the spot and an investigation is underway.
