Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) was awarded the 2022 Print Communications Award at the Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) Marketing and Communications Conference in Vancouver.
The award is for a travel contest featured in Milwaukee Magazine and at Milwaukee Art Museum's Art in Bloom and represents MKE's first win in the Print Communications Award category.
"Congratulations to MKE and our Airport team for collaborating with two local community cultural institutions to bring this first-place award home," County Executive David Crowley said. "We have a fantastic hometown Airport, and it's great to see that our partnerships with community organizations to support our hometown Airport received international recognition."
The Airport was honored for its “Travel So Easy” airline ticket giveaway, which advertised how easy it is to fly from MKE to any of Airport’s 30+ nonstop destinations. The contest was for $500 worth of airline tickets to any of MKE's nonstop destinations. More than 2,000 members of the community entered the contest. Milwaukee Magazine's April edition included the giveaway poster. In addition, MKE Airport worked with local florist Belle Fiori to create a floral replica of the Airport's moss wall to feature at the Milwaukee Art Museum's Art in Bloom. Attendees of the event had the opportunity to enter the contest at the Airport’s booth. The winner of the contest was an attendee of Art in Bloom.
"It is important for the Airport to promote just how easy it is to fly from MKE," Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. "Airport marketing efforts are significant to get the word out that by supporting our hometown Airport, we all can help add more flights and more jobs for our community."
