Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Announces New Director of Human Resources

The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority has named Adrienne Washington as director of human resources. Washington brings more than 20 years of leadership experience successfully managing programs and implementing change initiatives. In her new position, Washington will be responsible for the recruitment, labor cost management, total rewards systems, compliance, employee relations and HR data/technology for the authority. Washington will begin her new position on April 19.

“I am excited to join the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority at such a pivotal time in the industry,” said Washington. “Using my experience of integrating business and people strategies, I will continue to engage our teams in advancing the mission of the Authority. As a person moving to the Knoxville area, I am delighted to have the chance to explore all the sights, sounds, and beauty of East Tennessee and its residents. I look forward to making valuable contributions to the organization and my new community.”

Washington most recently worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation, where she served as Senior Manager of Human Resources. In this role, she advised C-suite executives, also serving as interim Director of the department. During her tenure of more than 20 years, she received three awards for implementing a 9/80 work schedule for the business area, designing and planning an inaugural conference for a leadership program, and strategic planning and implementation of an organizational restructure.

Washington earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Illinois. She is a Certified Senior Professional Human Resources Professional (SHRM-SCP) by the Society for Human Resource Management.
