United Airlines, OTG Announce Opening of Forth and Nomad Pop-Up at George Bush Intercontinental Airport

Sept. 6, 2018

United Airlines and OTG announced Sept. 6, the launch of a pop-up shop now open at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in partnership with Forth and Nomad, a Houston-based retailer that works with area craftsmen and brands that focus on artisanal made goods. Located inside Terminal E, Forth and Nomad will be open through September 2019, giving customers the opportunity to shop local and experience in-store demonstrations.

Forth and Nomad, whose brick and mortar shop is in the Heights Mercantile District of Houston, carries brands such as Stash Co., Adrian Landon Brooks and Twisted Arrow Goods, which offer high-quality products, leather goods, and artistically-made accessories and apparel that together create a memorable retail experience for shoppers. Travel-ready items, such leather passport covers, dopp kits, backpacks and duffels, and all-natural apothecary items are also available for purchase.

“Our goal is to bring the very best of Houston’ shopping and dining to IAH, and we strongly believe travelers should be able to experience and engage with the area’s small businesses from the second they get off their flight to the moments before they depart. Bringing Forth and Nomad to this space is the perfect way to do just that,” said Rick Blatstein, OTG CEO.

The Terminal E pop up will also host a series of in-store ‘Maker Sessions,’ which are demonstrations led by local craftsmen. The first Maker Session kicks off this September with a candle making workshop hosted by Twisted Arrow Goods. Other Maker Sessions will feature a leather wallet crafting session with Hud & Leigh, and a hands-on ceramics experience taught by Houston ceramics studio Box Sparrow Studios.

“Each piece we carry has a unique story behind it,” said Morgan Sommer, co-founder of Forth and Nomad. “We want to create a platform for artists to share their story, connect with the consumer, and ultimately create unique relationships between customers and retailers.”

OTG has worked with United Airlines to transform their terminals at IAH through the introduction of next-level technology, immersive design and locally-focused shopping and dining.

“We are thrilled that our customers will be able to support local artists and craftsmen by experiencing Forth and Nomad’s new pop-up shop,” said Rodney Cox, vice president, Houston for United Airlines. “We will continue to work closely with OTG to create a world-class experience for domestic and international customers and we are excited about the new retail and dining options that continue arrive at IAH.”
