San Antonio International Airport and American Airlines (AA) launched a new daily non-stop service from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) to Philadelphia’s International Airport (PHL). This new flight provides more access from southern Texas to the country’s Northeast region as well as convenient connecting options to Europe through AA’s primary transatlantic gateway.
Passengers boarded the 128-seat Airbus A319 aircraft headed to one of SAT’s previously underserved markets, a market formerly served only seasonally on a separate carrier.
“Approximately 120,000 travelers fly between San Antonio and Philadelphia each year, so this new service answers the need for many travelers and is a highlight to our economic progress,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio. Much like San Antonio, the Philadelphia area is known for its rich culture heritage, food, music and friendliness. San Antonio celebrates its Tricentennial year, the Alamo City joins Philadelphia as one of the few major American cities to reach that historic milestone.
