March 7, 2022

Berlin — The Ukrainian army has regained control of the airport in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv, according to local authorities.

Russian troops reportedly took control of the airport, which is located in the northern part of the city, on Monday morning, but just hours later the Ukrainians launched a counteroffensive.

"We chased them away," Mykolaiv Governor Vitaly Kim said in a video message released on Monday. He admitted that it was true no planes could take off there for the time being, "but the airport is ours," Kim said.
