KUWAIT: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is facing problems with connecting flights from Kuwait during the night due to a ban on flights from 8:00 pm till 4:00 am. So it has proposed operating the airport 24 hours, but hasn't received any response from the Ministry of Health yet. "We informed the ministry of health that Kuwait International Airport is ready to operate 24 hours as NAS and KAC have provided the necessary staff as of November 17, 2020.
But we haven't got approval yet. This move doesn't aim to increase the number of passengers or flights per day, but will only resolve the problem of evening flights, particularly departures," Director General of Civil Aviation Yousef Al-Fouzan told Kuwait Times yesterday.
Kuwait Airport is operating under 30 capacity since flights re-launched on August 1 following months of suspension due to the COVID-19 spread. Under a three-phase gradual reopening plan, the capacity is set to increase to 60 percent by February 2021, and 100 percent by August 2021.
