NARITA, Chiba (Jiji Press) — The operator of Narita International Airport announced on Thursday a ¥33.7 billion project to cope with a huge crowd of people likely to use the airport during the Tokyo Olympic-Paralympic period in 2020.
As part of the project, a temporary terminal will open at the airport near Tokyo for three days from Aug. 10, 2020, the day after the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, Narita International Airport Corp. President Makoto Natsume told a press conference.
Departures of athletes, Olympic-related officials and visitors from abroad are expected to peak that day, according to Natsume.
