NY: Warren County Decides to Raise Salary of New Airport Manager

May 22, 2018

QUEENSBURY — Warren County plans to pay its new airport manager more than the man he will replace, which led to a testy debate Monday as supervisors revealed that one of the facility’s former managers is the leading candidate to fill the post.

The most recent airport manager, Ross Dubarry, left the county’s employment last fall and had been working part-time until earlier this year. Despite a push by some to fully privatize the airport, the Board of Supervisors earlier this year approved filling the post with a full-time employee at a salary of $74,768.

Public Works Superintendent Kevin Hajos said he received eight applications, including one from a former county employee with extensive airport management experience that stood out and was his preferred choice. But he said that worker, whom he did not identify, wanted to return for a salary of $80,000, which Hajos said was budgeted if needed.
