CO: Lawmakers Urge Feds to Allow GJT to Accept Direct International Flights

Grand Junction Regional Airport should be able to accept direct international flights, federal lawmakers wrote to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton and U.S. senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner wrote Wednesday that the airport "is an essential asset in the economic development efforts of the Grand Junction region and western Colorado."

"Allowing direct international flights enhances the airport's role in the state tourism industry and creates a new, direct link to the global air transportation system for Colorado employers," the letter states.
