TN: Pump Failures at Treatment Plant Cause General DeWitt Spain Airport Flooding

March 12, 2018

Less than two years after experiencing sewer-system failures that prompted a $513,000 proposed fine from the state, Memphis officials scrambled Friday to contain a deluge of sewage-tainted water that flooded onto General DeWitt Spain Airport after pumps failed at a neighboring treatment plant.

The flooding caused no significant damage and did not inundate the runway or terminal building at the general-aviation airport just north of Downtown at 2787 N. Second.
