Long Beach Airport officials are ready for the second phase of planned improvements to take off — with construction crews anticipated to break ground on new ticketing facilities and a consolidated baggage claim area as soon as this summer or fall.
Part of the Terminal Area Improvement Project (TAIP), which was dreamt up more than a decade ago, the first phase of work included the now-complete passenger concourse and screening area as well as a build-out of Parking Lot B, among other changes that were completed in late 2012.
Phase II got an early start with improvements to Parking Lot A being completed in November last year, but that was just the beginning of major changes soon to be underway, according to airport Director Jess L. Romo.
