From Then to Now: Perth Airport’s Massive Growth

assenger growth at Perth Airport since 1960 has been spectacular, built on resources booms, the dramatic reduction in airfares and a thirst for travel.

In 1960, the airport handled 134,000 passengers a year.

Today, it processes that number every three days.

The first mining boom in the 1960s promoted local regional operator MacRobertson Miller Airlines to order a fleet of five 55-seat Fokker 100 jets to supplement its handful of smaller aircraft, including DC-3s.
