NC: Former Airport Chairman Sentenced on Embezzlement Charges

April 21, 2017

Nearly four years after pleading guilty to embezzlement and witness tampering, Randy Hullette walked out of the federal courthouse in Asheville on Thursday with a three-year probation sentence.

That’s because the former board chairman of Foothills Regional Airport cooperated with federal officials and provided substantial assistance in the prosecution of others, said U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger.

Before Hullette’s day in court on Thursday, he had been scheduled for sentencing four times but each one was continued.

Hullette’s charges, combined, carried a maximum 30-year sentence. He pleaded guilty to the charges on Aug. 21, 2013.
