Cornwall Newquay Airport Carrier Flybe Worried About Passengers Slump After Brexit
The new boss of low-cost airline Flybe which flies from Cornwall Newquay Airport has expressed fears that Brexit could lead to a slump in passenger numbers.
Christine Ourmieres-Widener, chief executive of the Exeter-based firm, has urged the Government to strike a deal that protects companies.
Across the industry there are fears any departure from the European Single Aviation Market will seriously wound UK airlines and could lead to some services being scrapped.
Only recently discount airline Ryanair warned it could halt flights from the UK for "weeks or months" including from Newquay, if the UK government does not seal an early deal on international aviation. The airline currently operates twice-weekly flights to Faro in Portugal and Alicante in Spain from Newquay.
