A Bolivian airport official is being accused of failing to stop the charter flight that killed a Brazilian soccer team from taking off despite having a flight plan in violation of international safety standards.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Aasana employee Celia Castedo is accused of letting LaMia flight 2933 take off Nov. 28 from Viru Viru Airport in Santa Cruz, Boliva with a flight plan that didn’t include a refueling stop.
The flight crashed in Medellín, Colombia, near its final destination. Castedo denies the accusation and is currently seeking asylum in Brazil.
