Jan. 11, 2022

Experienced airport leader Marc Gambrill, P.E., AAE, has joined HDR as a senior aviation program manager. Gambrill most recently served as the chief development officer for Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport, leading project management, planning, environmental, design and construction efforts for the facilities. As an accredited airport executive who has helped oversee more than $1.6 billion of projects, Gambrill understands the challenges airport leadership face on a daily basis. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood is annually among the busiest airports in the U.S. and in 2020 was among the top 15 airports in the nation by enplanements.

Based in Fort Lauderdale, Gambrill will work across HDR’s national aviation practice, sharing his experience as an airport executive to assist clients with tailored service offerings informed by his understanding of airport needs. He will also provide technical leadership and project management on major projects and coordinate with other managers to ensure HDR continues to deliver high-quality aviation planning, design and construction services.

“Airports face numerous challenges every day,” Gambrill said. “In the end, it all comes down to how to accommodate air traffic growth in the most efficient yet safe and sustainable way. I am looking forward to using my aviation experience and knowledge from the owners’ perspective to help airports capitalize on opportunities and efficiently manage their capacity and growth while improving the passenger experience.”

An active participant in industry associations, Gambrill is a member of the American Association of Airport Executives and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

“Marc has great insights into the challenges faced by airport leadership on a daily basis,” said HDR Aviation Director Bill Peduzzi. “That knowledge of airport needs and understanding of aviation development strategy will help our clients as they pursue strong futures for their own facilities.”
