Yuming Zhang has been selected to lead The Design Solution's representation in China from June 1. The appointment consolidates The Design Solution’s 20 years’ experience in China on a range of high profile airport projects and will enable the acceleration of further opportunities in the market.
Based in Beijing, Zhang has 20 years’ commercial experience with Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) covering commercial planning, retail investment promotion and operational management. From an initial remit for the airport’s three terminals, his role expanded to include other airports within the Capital Airport Holding Group. He was also an instrumental leader in developing a new generation of airport executives, lecturing on the airport business planning courses designed for the Western Airport Group and the Capital Airport Group.

While we have always serviced our worldwide clients from our London office, and in the short term this will not change, we are exploring how best to deliver our design work in China going forward to achieve the full potential of this vast and complex market as it continues to develop. Yuming is an experienced and enthusiastic talent, with invaluable market knowledge, to help us take full advantage of the many opportunities that lie ahead.”
Zhang adds, "I first came to know The Design Solution on a project they delivered for the airside Food & Beverage area at Beijing Capital International Airport when I was in charge of the planning and design for Terminal 2. We reconnected 18 months ago and found that we shared a vision for the potential in the market and decided to move forward and work together. We will be actively pursuing opportunities in a focused and concerted manner. I am honoured to be representing The Design Solution in China. Zhang is assisted by a number of local experts, who have worked in aviation related enterprises, and have a deep knowledge and experience in the Chinese commercial airport market.
