Flint Bishop Airport Will Remain Open as a Critical Business

March 23, 2020

Flint Bishop International Airport (FNT) will remain open as a “Critical Business Exception” to Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order announced to begin March 24, 2020 at 12:01 am, and continue through April 13, 2020 at 11:59 pm.

The safety and security of our passengers and employees are our top priorities at Flint Bishop Airport. As such, Airport officials have developed an extensive set of contingency plans that support the existing “Epidemic Plan for Infectious Diseases” protocols. We are strictly adhering to the emergency response guidelines for first responders and our airport staff while they deal with the current health crisis in our community. Additionally, starting tomorrow, Flint Bishop Airport Police will begin temperature screenings of all personnel who enter the terminal building.

“Airports are vital to providing access to the national airspace system and provide significant economic and social value to our community,” stated Airport Director, Nino Sapone. “As such, it is imperative that we remain as operationally capable as safety allows. Our staff and tenants are highly trained professionals who play a critical role ensuring the safety and security of the traveling public. Together we will remain resilient, flexible and adapt to the everyday challenges.”

  • Car Rentals: They remain open.
  • Economy Lot Closure: This lot is closed to new vehicle parking.
  • Economy Lot Booth: The booth is unattended from 2am – 8am. However, if there is a flight arriving late, the booth will remain open until the flight has arrived. Anyone who needs to exit while the lot is unattended must use the credit card lane.
  • Economy Lot Shuttle Busses: They will not run between 2am – 8am. This should not impact any incoming flights.
  • FNT Visitor’s Pass: This program is temporarily paused.

Thank you for your patience as we work together to provide the essential access the public needs to the aviation system during this critical time.
