Gary / Chicago International Airport Manager Receives Prestigious “Everyday Safety Hero” Award

At yesterday’s 2020 Indiana Safety and Health Conference, Gary / Chicago International Airport’s (GCIA) Health and Safety Manager Clifford “Cliff” Lee received the Governor’s prestigious “2020 Everyday Safety Hero” award acknowledging his steadfast dedication to ensuring strong safety and health standards in the workplace.

“Cliff has been the airport’s champion of workplace safety and health excellence and this award is a strong reminder of the care we take in ensuring best practices are implemented for our employee’s,” said Duane Hayden, Executive Director of the Gary / Chicago International Airport. “We are proud to be recognized for our ongoing efforts at this year’s Governor’s Safety Luncheon.”

The 2020 Everyday Safety Hero Award was presented to Lee at the annual Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards (GWSA) Luncheon which is a part of the 2020 Indiana Safety and Health Conference held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The nominee is not required to be a health or safety professional, but rather, seeks to promote individuals showing strong commitments to improving workplace health and safety.

“It’s an honor to receive this award, and be recognized for our commitment to workplace safety,” said award recipient Cliff Lee of Gary / Chicago International Airport. “GCIA remains committed to the highest standards of excellence for employees, tenants and visitors alike and there is nothing more important than ensuring proper safety mechanisms are in place.”

The annual Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards and Everyday Safety Hero Awards honor Indiana employers and employees who proactively work together to advance the health, safety and prosperity of Hoosiers in their respective workplaces. This award looks to acknowledge and recognize the contributions, participation, and impact that a front-line employee plays.
