MEDFORD, OR – March 21, 2014 – The Rogue Valley International – Medford Airport is inviting the general public to celebrate with them the completion of the second phase of the Airport’s advances towards incorporating solar energy to minimize its carbon footprint. On Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 1:30 p.m., the Airport will be unveiling an emblematic design to recognize Pacific Power customers for their Blue Sky funding award in the amount of $170,684, which financed a portion of the project.
“Rather than install just another sign, we decided to do something a little more iconic,” stated Airport Director Bern Case. The Airport will be unveiling a tall, aesthetic instrument in keeping with devices that have relied on the sun’s rays for centuries. A number of County officials will be in attendance, as well as the architect, contractor for the project and representatives from Pacific Power.
This is the second solar project that the Rogue Valley International – Medford Airport has completed with the help of Pacific Power’s Blue Sky customers.
For 13 years now, Pacific Power’s Blue Sky customers have made their marks on the green power map by personally choosing to support renewable energy. Since 2006, these customers also have helped put more than 70 new small scale community-based renewable energy projects on the ground in Oregon, Washington, and California. These projects have won more than $6 million in funding and have added more than 4.8 megawatts of renewable power capacity to the grid.
