Huge Warehouse Deal in the Works at DFW Airport
A big warehouse lease in the works is one of the largest such North Texas industrial transactions.
The almost 1 million-square-foot distribution deal is for a new warehouse planned at DFW International Airport. The DFW Commerce Center building at 2601 S. Airfield Drive in Irving is a project of Dallas’ Copeland Commercial LLC.
The almost 60-acre business park was designed to include four big warehouse and distribution buildings.
The pending lease is part of a $53 million project to create a new regional distribution center.
Real estate brokers say that Amazon is looking at the DFW Airport property along with a similar-size building in Fort Worth.
Owners of the building would not comment.
The warehouse transaction stands out, even in what is one of the country’s biggest industrial and distribution markets. More than 23 million square feet of warehouse space is under construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The building is in the same area at the south end of DFW Airport, where candy maker Mars also recently leased a huge new warehouse.
The DFW Airport market is one of the busiest industrial building districts in North Texas.
