2019 Airport Business Top 40 Under 40: Dianna E. Deis

Nov. 21, 2019

Serving on the John Wayne Airport (JWA) Executive Management team, Dianna E. Deis, strategic initiatives manager, became interested in aviation at a young age while preparing to travel after college.

Upon joining JWA in her current role, one of Deis’ first initiatives was the creation of leadership and education development seminars (LEADS), the first program of its kind geared towards JWA staff. Deis designed JWA LEADS to harness proven leadership tools and pragmatic insight from the JWA Executive Management team, as well as acclaimed academic thought leaders. Deis drove the development of JWA LEADS with a focus on JWA’s ability to create an organizational leadership legacy and enhance its talent management capabilities.

Deis has also contributed to the future positioning of the airport through her facilitation of a strategic planning process for the JWA Executive Management team. Using stakeholder engagement and careful design of a focused retreat, the executive management team identified strategic objectives via prioritized goals, which will serve as a foundational cornerstone for future planning, decision-making guideposts and resource alignment.

“I am grateful that my work within the aviation industry aligns with one of my strongest interests, which is to positively contribute within a complex, nuanced, systems-based field where critical components evolve and I can support the organization to continually improve in order for the system to best function,” Deis said.
