Did you know?

At 14, Lanieri joined the fight against town officials to keep the family-run hometown airport open.

Steve Lanieri’s eyes have been fixed toward the sky since the day he was born. His passion for aviation began as a toddler riding in the chase vehicle of his uncle's hot-air balloon crew. By the age of 14, Steve was working in the airport management and flight school office at Solberg Airport near his hometown in central New Jersey. In his spare time, he took private pilot lessons, was certified as an EMT and became an Eagle Scout. Between semesters at Daniel Webster College, Lanieri interned in Airport Operations at New Jersey’s Morristown and Teterboro airports, helping him become an AAAE certified member while still in college. Lanieri received awards from Daniel Webster College graduating at the top of his aviation management class, and was hired as a communications specialist/EMT with Boston MedFlight, one of the country's leading air ambulance services, where he coordinated emergency critical care missions. From there, he was recruited by the Massachusetts Port Authority in the Airport Communications Center at Boston-Logan International Airport and handled logistics for international flight operations, dispatched fire/rescue assets and supported airport operations and security functions. Within a few years, Lanieri was promoted to his current position as airport operations shift manager at Hanscom Field, New England's premier corporate aviation airport, just outside of Boston. There Lanieri manages airside and landside operations, safety, and security duties, and directs airport maintenance activities under FAA Part 139 and TSR 1542 directives. Lanieri was an integral part of the 2015 AAAE Balchen-Post Award-winning snow removal team at Hanscom Field during Boston's recent historic winter. Outside of aviation, Lanieri’s serves an EMT in his hometown, as a national coordinator within the National Collegiate EMS Foundation, and as a ski patroller.
