With air travel and road trips back to pre-pandemic levels, U.S. parents are tapping into resources to support their breastfeeding needs at popular tourist venues. Mamava's free mobile app, which helps parents find and access thousands of lactation pods, just broke all-time traffic records last month. Mamava reports that pod sessions increased 71% in April, compared to April of 2023 and app downloads for April are 31% above 2022 figures. Mamava reported a total of 226,500 pod sessions in 2022.
According to The Family Travel Association, 85% of parents will be planning a trip with their children within the next 12 months. For parents with young children, knowing which destinations support breastfeeding families is critical for travel planning. Mamava, the category creator of freestanding lactation spaces, has more than 4,000 pods and thousands of vetted lactation spaces documented on the app. Mamava has helped to transform the culture of breastfeeding in the U.S. by creating infrastructure that makes breastfeeding an authentic and easier choice.
With an active fleet of 182 pods across 76 airports, Mamava pods not only help airports comply with the Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Act and the Friendly Airports for Mothers Improvement Act, but also makes air travel much easier for families. (See Mamava’s Best Airports List here.)
