BLUE BELL, Pa., April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that TravelSky, the leading provider of information technology solutions for China's air travel and tourism industry, has awarded a contract to Unisys China for the Unisys Airline Core Systems Solutions (AirCore) next-generation passenger system.

TravelSky, which operates the reservations, inventory and departure control systems used by China's air carriers, will use Unisys AirCore to streamline and modernize passenger sales and service (PSS) applications for its airline clients.

The multi-year deal, signed in December 2012 after a competitive review, covers the first phase of TravelSky's modernization program to replace its inventory and flight information applications as well as provide customer-centric capabilities for its hosted airline clients.

TravelSky Vice President Mr. Huang Yuanchang said: "We selected Unisys AirCore for our modernization program as it offered the optimal migration path to open technology, using industry standards to allow our airline clients to optimize key customer-facing processes that best suit their individual business needs."

Unisys AirCore is the only operational next-generation passenger system covering both Reservations and Departure Control for air carriers. The modular design is based on open technology and industry standards to make it easier to add new applications or integrate with other systems. It is suitable for a wide range of airline business models.

Mr. Olivier Houri, President Global Transportation, Unisys, said: "We are pleased that TravelSky chose the Unisys AirCore solution for its modernization program. TravelSky is a long-time leader and innovator in IT services for China's aviation industry, and we are confident that TravelSky and its clients will benefit from the capabilities and openness of what we believe is the most sophisticated, open airline passenger system on the market.

"We believe Unisys AirCore is the core platform for future airline PSS solutions, giving clients autonomy, flexibility and distribution control, in line with IATA's New Distribution Capability (NDC) initiative," Mr. Houri added.
