Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Deputy Executive Director of Information Technology Aura Moore has been named the Information Security Executive (ISE) of the Year for the Western Region. The honor was announced at the 2019 ISE West Executive Forum and Awards Gala in San Francisco on Aug. 22. The ISE Awards are recognized as the most prestigious IT security award among security executives and their project teams. “Securing and advancing the technology infrastructure for the fourth busiest airport in the world requires immense knowledge, an innovative mindset and the ability to rapidly respond and adapt,” said Deborah Flint, chief executive officer, LAWA. “This award recognizes the leadership of Aura Moore and her team to deliver technology services in a complex airport environment that demands excellence in delivery and security."

Flint appointed Moore as the Deputy Executive Director of Information Technology for LAWA in July 2016. She oversees technology development and day-to-day information technology operations and serves as top technology infrastructure and systems leader for LAWA’s two airports: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport. Moore draws from a public service career of over 25 years at agencies throughout the City of Los Angeles. Her previous positions with LAWA include network infrastructure program manager and IT project management director.

As Deputy Executive Director of Information Technology, Moore has strengthened LAWA's security, business and airport operations through efficiently delivering large-scale airport technology projects. Within her role as Deputy Executive Director of Information Technology, she expanded her focus to enhancing the guest experience through implementing self-service technologies and establishing partnerships designed to improve passenger processing. Moore is credited with modernizing technology infrastructure throughout the LAX campus, where she consolidated surveillance systems and expanded coverage for enhanced security and safety. She also worked to replace manual processes with new systems that have improved airport operational efficiencies.
