As originally reported on BBC News, the Edinburgh Airport will be creating up to 160 new retail jobs this year. The airport has been expanding significantly due to a growth in passenger numbers. The retail space at the airport underwent recent renovations, which will bring in new clothing and dining retailers. Nearly 94 new positions were already created at the end of November and December 2015 with the opening of retail chains Superdrug, JD Sports and Flutes and Tails Champagne Bar.

Gordon Dewar, the airport chief executive said, “2015 was an incredible year for Edinburgh Airport; the growth in our passenger numbers is thanks to the increased choice of destinations and our commitment to improving the overall passenger experience. The expansion of the retail side of the business is a key element of our success. The fact is that Edinburgh Airport's growth in the non-aero market allows us to be competitive and attract more airlines and more routes in and out of Scotland's capital.”

Clothing retailers including Next, Brora Cashmere, Max Mara, Michael Kors and Fatface are expected to generate around 90 jobs. While restaurant All Bar One is projected to generate around 70 jobs.
