Jet Charter Operator Schubach Aviation Achieves IS-BAO Stage 2 Certification
Schubach Aviation, San Diego’s leading on-demand jet charter operator, announces that it has completed the rigorous International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) Stage 2 certification. The three-stage recommended code of best practices is the worldwide gold standard for business aviation, to help operators achieve the highest levels of safety. The Stage 2 audit confirms that potential safety risks are being effectively managed. Investing in the IS-BAO audit process, which exceeds the standard required FAA regulations, reflects Schubach Aviation’s relentless commitment to safety.
“We are proud to have earned IS-BAO Phase II certification,” says Schubach Aviation president Kimberly Herrell. “The IS-BAO audit covers every facet of company operations and requires trend analysis to attain and maintain an effective safety culture at Schubach Aviation. As aviation consumers, our aircraft owners and jet charter clients appreciate the peace of mind that comes with this endorsement of our uncompromising commitment to safety and exceeding best practices.”
Launched in 2002, IS-BAO was developed by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and its member associations as a universal standard and set of recommended practices related to safety for business aircraft— to ultimately prevent accidents and incidents. Regular third-party audits are performed, every two to three years, to achieve and maintain IS-BAO certification.
“Our priority is to always maintain the highest level of safety for our team members and clients,” says Schubach Aviation Safety Officer/Pilot Gerald Ward. “Management is dedicated to providing the resources and support to ensure there is a continuous focus on Schubach Aviation's safety program, while our team members demonstrate their commitment to safety on a daily basis in conducting all aspects of flight operations.”
To achieve Stage 2 certification, a third-party evaluated and scrutinized Schubach Aviation’s Safety Management System (SMS) and operations, including:
- Organization and Personnel
- Training and Proficiency
- Flight Operations
- Operations in International and other specialized Airspace
- Equipment Requirements
- Maintenance Requirements
- Company Operations Manual
- Emergency Response Plan
- Environmental Management
- Occupational Health & Safety
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Security
The jet charter operator completed Stage 1 in fall of 2016, by successfully demonstrating that the appropriate SMS (Safety Management System) infrastructure has been established. Schubach Aviation has plans to participate in a Stage 3 audit when eligible, two years from now.
