Power Outages Cause Major Delays at Buffalo Airport
Power outages in Western New York are causing major delays at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
WIVB reports about 2,800 power outages were reported Wednesday morning in the Cheektowaga area. According to NYSEG and National Grid, most of the outages have been resolved as of 7 a.m.
However, the Buffalo airport is still feeling the impact and running on backup generators.
A rep for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority told WKBW that the airport is working to restore full power. Photos show long lines at airport terminals, dimly lit due to backup power.
Multiple flights are currently delayed. Travelers are being asked to contact their airline for more information.
It’s unclear how long it will take to resolve the issue.
