United Airlines To Launch Service Linking Its Denver Hub With Two New Markets
United Airlines announced plans to launch daily nonstop service linking its Denver hub with two new markets: Shreveport, La., and Grand Forks, N.D.
In addition, United will expand existing summer-season flights between Denver and Anchorage to year-round service.
The announcement comes after United announced daily, nonstop service between Denver and its hub at Tokyo Narita International Airport, starting in the spring of 2013.
"These new routes cap off a monumental month for Denver, for United and for our customers," said James Starnes, director of Domestic Planning for United. "United is committed to the 'Mile High City,' and these new services underscore our commitment to bring to Denver the best network and schedule that any airline offers."
According to a release, once-daily, nonstop service between Denver and Shreveport starts Aug. 28. United Express carrier ExpressJet will operate the flight with a 50-seat Embraer regional jet. Shreveport Regional Airport serves north Louisiana, east Texas and southwest Arkansas. Shreveport offers everything from outdoor festivals and comedy shows to live theatre and symphony performances. Great shopping and dining also await visitors to this historic Louisiana town.
Twice-daily, nonstop service between Denver and Grand Forks International Airport begins Oct. 3. United Express carrier SkyWest will operate the flights with 50-seat Canadair regional jets. The Grand Forks area offers a mix of sporting events, a lively arts scene, miles of hiking and biking trails, and a vibrant downtown.
United's seasonal service between Denver and Anchorage, launched May 1 with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, will operate year-round. The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport plays an integral role in the growth of Anchorage and the state of Alaska. Anchorage is the place for adventure, steeped in famous wildlife, inspiring mountain vistas, fascinating cultures and amazing glaciers. Anchorage blends metropolitan luxuries with natural wonders to create an unforgettable destination.
United noted that it offers flights to destinations worldwide from Denver, with nearly 400 peak-day departures to 125 destinations throughout the year.
United Airlines and United Express operate an average of 5,605 flights a day to 375 airports on six continents.
