airBaltic Introduces Automatic COVID-19 Travel Document Check

Sept. 30, 2021

Latvian airline airBaltic announces that as of late September it has launched a new, automatic COVID-19 travel document check for those passengers traveling on direct flights to Riga, Latvia. Document check is performed during the online check-in process.

Martin Gauss, chief executive officer of airBaltic: “Due to the various changing COVID-19 restrictions, it may take passenger additional time to check-in at the airport and board the flight. By introducing an automatic travel document check during the online check-in process, we expect the waiting times to decrease significantly. It will make the travel experience more convenient and enjoyable for our passengers.”

So far, already several thousand passengers have trialed the service, providing their COVID-19 travel documents necessary for entering Latvia. If a passenger won’t be able or willing to check his documents online, it will still be possible to do it at the check-in or boarding desks at the airport. In the nearest future, the airline plans to introduce the service also for those passengers travelling to and from other countries.
