British Airways Begins Daily Austin to Heathrow Service

April 11, 2018

British Airways has begun operating its Austin to London Heathrow daily services on the iconic Boeing 747.  This marks the first regularly scheduled commercial service on 747s at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

British Airways began flying daily between Austin and London Heathrow in March 2014, providing local businesses and families the first nonstop scheduled service to Europe.

BA190 departs Austin at 6:35pm and arrives at London Heathrow at 10:00am.  BA191 departs London Heathrow at 12:00pm and arrives in Austin at 4:20pm.

Al Bridger, British Airways’ chief pilot Boeing, said, “We’re delighted that our Boeing 747s will be flying between Austin and London this summer.  The jumbo is one of the most iconic and recognizable aircraft and we’re pleased Austinites will be able to see her fly this summer.  British Airways has been flying between the two cities for over four years and we look forward to welcoming our customers back onboard”.

British Airways offers four different travel classes to customers on its 747 jumbos.  The First cabin creates a unique experience based on classic design and discrete luxury.  Each cabin features an individual seat that turns into a 6 ft. fully flat bed with a simple touch of a button, with a luxurious quilted mattress, crisp white cotton duvet and pillow.  Customers can sleep in total privacy in individual cabins and can choose from our exclusive “a la carte” menu anytime they want and dine with a friend on the seat across from them.

British Airways’ Club World customers will be able to experience the world’s first fully flat bed and enjoy a wide selection of Club Kitchen meals and on-demand entertainment.  Customers in First or Club World or Gold and Silver Executive Club members have access to the Galleries Lounges in Terminal 5, with stylish modern interiors and a touch of unique British style.

World Traveller Plus, the airline’s premium economy, features a secluded cabin with 38” seats equipped with power supply for laptops and CD/DVD players, as well as an assortment of fine foods from the Club World menu.

World Traveller, economy, features seats with adjustable headrest, lumbar support and recline.  Customers can benefit from a multi-million dollar investment in its economy catering, with a welcome drink and pretzels and a four course meal.

Every seat has a personal screen with a wide range of on-demand entertainment (allows to select TV shows and movies), including a variety of kids’ shows. The "Feed Kids First" service ensures that children are served first, allowing parents to enjoy their own meal.

The popular meal options for customers with special dietary requirements will continue to be available to book on ba.com/managemybooking more than 24 hours ahead of their flight departing.

Travelers looking for a special treat can also pre-order meals on flights from London Heathrow up to 24 hours before their flight.

British Airways is investing £4.5 billion for customers over the next five years, covering the installation of the best quality WiFi and power in every seat, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new aircraft.  The airline is also investing £600m specifically in Club World, including enhanced catering and luxurious White Company bedding;  plus, from 2019, a new seat with direct aisle access.
