Frontier Airlines Expands Daily Flights From Dallas Fort Worth Airport to Puerto Rico

Feb. 1, 2023

On cold snowy days like these, it’s no surprise North Texas residents may be looking to travel somewhere warmer.

With most North Texas school districts canceling class and many people working from home for a few days, news of more flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Puerto Rico can’t come at a better time.

Low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines will expand an existing service from DFW to San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting May 4. Daily flights from DFW to San Juan will use an A320 aircraft. Flights purchased before Feb. 7 can cost as low as $69.

The airline also announced new nonstop routes to San Juan, Ponce and Aguadilla in Puerto Rico from six other U.S. cities and Cancun starting in May. Additional nonstop flights mean Frontier will serve more routes to Puerto Rico than any other airline.

“Puerto Rico is a hugely popular destination for leisure travelers as well as the large population of Puerto Ricans residing in the U.S. who enjoy returning to the island to visit friends and family,” Frontier Airlines’ senior vice president, Daniel Shurz, said in a release. “It is a fantastic vacation destination with stunning beaches, historical sites and the one-of-a-kind El Yunque National Forest. For those with family and friends on the island, we’re offering more options than ever to fly affordably and conveniently between a multitude of major cities and Puerto Rico.”

Frontier Airlines operates 120 A320 family aircraft and has more than 230 new Airbus planes on order. The Denver-based airline also claims to be the most fuel-efficient of all major U.S. carriers.
