Spirit Airlines to Launch Cleveland-to-Miami Route in November

June 9, 2021

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Spirit Airlines will launch new service in November between Cleveland Hopkins and Miami International Airport.

The new route will be in addition to existing Spirit service from Cleveland to nearby Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The addition is part of a major expansion by Spirit at Miami, its seventh destination in the Sunshine State.

The carrier said it was not pulling back at Fort Lauderdale, but responding to continued growth in demand for service to Florida.

“We are the largest airline at FLL, and we intend to stay that way,” the carrier said in a statement. “In fact, we’ll reach 100 departures per day at FLL for the first time in July. The demand is there to support growth throughout South Florida. Our flying out of MIA is in support of continued expansion in the region.”

New daily service to Cleveland will start Nov. 17. Flight times will be announced later.

Spirit will fly to a total of 30 destinations from Miami, including 12 airports in the Caribbean and South America.

American and Frontier airlines also fly between Cleveland Hopkins and Miami International.
