Spirit Airlines Flight Declares Emergency in Air, Loses Power at Sacramento Airport
A Spirit Airlines flight declared an emergency while attempting to land at Sacramento International Airport on Saturday morning, but managed to touch down without incident.
Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, confirmed that the plane, an Airbus A319, reported an emergency, but said the landing was successful.
Laurie Slothower, a Sacramento County airport spokeswoman, said Flight 1818 was coming in to land at 7:45 a.m. after a round-trip flight to Las Vegas, when an electrical system complication prompted an alert 1 emergency — which indicates minor issues.
The plane managed to land safely, Slothower said, but lost power before it made it to the airport gate.
The plane was towed off the tarmac to Terminal B, where passengers departed safely, she said.
