SANTA FE, N.M. — Taos Air announced plans Wednesday to begin direct charter flight service to and from Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Los Angeles and McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad/San Diego beginning Jan. 9.
The company said it will provide flights under two and a half hours one way at prices comparable to commercial service, making it easy for Southern Californians to come experience New Mexico culture and its world class ski resorts.
“Taos is fortunate to welcome many visitors from Southern California and we are very excited to help them make the trip quicker and easier,” said Daniel Barrone, Town of Taos Mayor, in a statement. “We are so pleased Taos Air continues to grow and provide door-to-door flights for people who want to experience Taos.”
The new winter California service is expected to run from Jan. 9 through March 29 and consist of one flight to and from each destination every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, for a total of six round trips per week. For a full winter schedule, visit TaosAir.com.
One way ticket prices from LA start at $190 and from Carlsbad/San Diego, $180 according to the company website.
The California service is in addition to Taos Air’s existing, second year of service to Texas destinations Austin-Bergstrom International and Dallas Love Field, according to a news release.
“We are proud to be part of the thriving tourism industry in New Mexico and are grateful to all of our partners that have made this expanded service a reality,” said David Norden, CEO of Taos Ski Valley Inc. said in a statement.
Taos Air also said its air service is a 100 percent carbon-offset as Taos Ski Valley Inc. has partnered with NativeEnergy, to determine the carbon footprint of the Taos Air program and to purchase carbon offset credits.
