Flight from Cuba Makes Emergency Landing at Orlando International Airport After Engine Trouble
A flight from Cuba headed to Toronto had to make an emergency landing at Orlando International Airport Saturday afternoon because of an engine failure, officials said.
Air Transat flight TS691 took off from Santa Clara, Cuba, around 12:40 p.m. and was diverted to Orlando International where it landed without incident around 1:30 p.m., said Carolyn Fennell, spokeswoman for the Greater Orlando Airport Authority.
There were 189 passengers and crew on board.
The passengers were taken from the plane and had to go through U.S. Customs, said Fennell. The airline is bringing in another plane to take passengers to Toronto.
Airport operations were not impacted.
